Smoothing

1 - areas to be smoothed are painted and the edges “feathered”

Cut finger hole -

1 - curve is drawn around mandrel and then projected onto plane.

2 - using projected curve as a guide, circle is drawn on plane and sized to the closest ring size - sz 14

3 - unwanted clay is removed by first drawing a curve around base

6 - extraneous clay is then removed from the setting and the area is smoothed

4 - “separate with curve” function then removes the unwanted piece

5 - smoothing procedure is then repeated for this side of the ring

Creating the interior detail is accomplished by first generating a “cutting” tool that will be used to remove clay from the inside of the ring.

1 - The original scanned part is trimmed using the “select with plane” function.

2 - the selected area (green) is then deleted and the process is repeated for the other side
