ELF TWIN - VINTAGE MODEL CAR ENGINE

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT - This was a personal project in order to evaluate some of the more “mechanical” modeling tools found in Freeform, Version 8. This model will also eventually be used in the Racer -“X” design exercise.

THE ELF TWIN, model car engine is a working reproduction of a gas-powered miniature model car engine from the late thirties - early forties. These engines were used to power model Tether Cars to speeds of seventy miles an hour or more. Building & racing these “tethered” model vehicles was an enormously popular hobby immediately before and after WW II.

The total length of the actual engine is 4-1/2 “


	These photos of an actual Elf Twin engine were imported into Freeform and used as reference images.


		The digital models pictured below were built within Freeform, version 8.2. The various colors illustrate the individual parts and subassemblies that make up the digital model.
