In designing the bronze, the object was to free the turtle from the matrix. Doing so would then allow the finished piece to be mounted slightly in front of a vertical surface, enhancing it dimensionally. To accomplish this, many hours were invested sculpting the edges of the turtle castings. |

Upon completion, the patterns for the components were then molded. These molds were in turn used to create wax castings that are necessary for the “lost-wax” casting process. |
