TROPICAL FISH

PAGE DIVIDER

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT - The final objective of this effort was to produce a 60 frame scene animation that is choreographed and formatted so as to produce a sense of depth within the finished “holographic stereogram.

The scene is to depict a “tropical reef” and requires digital models of four different tropical fish. Upon completion, these models will need to be surfaced, “rigged” and animated within the scene.

CLIENT - CROWN HOLO-GRAFX

PROJECT DATE - October, 2002

PROGRAMS USED - FREEFORM V-5 / LIGHTWAVE 6

OCEAN HEADFISH

Each of the fish were sculpted in Freeform. The fins were created as separate parts to facilitate animation.

BUTTERFLY FISH

All of the fins had to be made extra thick to enable them to be seen in the final animated hologram.

CLOWN FISH

The completed fish models were imported (as OBJ meshes) into Lightwave V-6.

Planar surface maps were then added to each of the models.

The models were then “rigged” with a “bone” structure to control movement of the body and fins.

Slightly different “bone structure” to enable a different tail movement.

TROPICS

The process used to to translate this scene into a hologram requires that the animation use only “fully saturated” colors which is why the artwork is so intensely bright.
